CUP SIZE ISN'T ABSOLUTE
Cup size is relative to band size. A cup size on one band size is not the same as the same cup size on another band size. For example, a 32D has smaller cup volume and diameter than a 34D. This is why it's important to adjust both band and cup size to find the right fit.
CUP SIZE DENOTES PROJECTION
Cup size indicates how far your breasts project from your chest wall. Each cup size represents a 1-inch increase in circumference at your bust line. If you're spilling out of the cups, try going up in cup size while keeping the band size the same, and vice versa.
BUST POINT PLACEMENT
As bra sizes increase, the bust points (the location where the breasts are positioned on the bra) also move slightly wider. This is to accommodate the changes in breast shape and size.
INCONSISTENT SIZING ACROSS BRANDS
Sizing can vary significantly between different bra brands. Some brands use different letters (e.g., DDDD, G, F, FF) for larger cup sizes, but the increases between sizes remain consistent (1-inch increments). To find your correct size in a particular brand, count the number of cup sizes above a D and use that as a reference.
Ultimately, finding the perfect bra size can require some trial and error, as it varies from person to person and from brand to brand. However, understanding these principles can make the process more manageable and help individuals find bras that provide the right support and comfort.
